YELL - Ent/Ecomm 12
The Business Accelerator covers the core concepts of lean entrepreneurship and connects students to a variety of local entrepreneurial leaders. Throughout this semester, students will hear from over a dozen local entrepreneurial leaders, who share advice and stories and engage in a 2-way dialogue with students. As a result, students receiving direct mentorship from community leaders every week. Also during the Business Accelerator, YELL Teachers cover topics including: design thinking, resiliency training, marketing, financial projections, customer discovery, Business Model Canvas, & more!
During the Idea Incubator phase students put theory into practice and create their own ventures as a work experience equivalent. Students join groups of five to brainstorm, create, discuss and agree on a business concept. Once a concept is adopted, the team is matched with a mentor. During this semester, teams will meet during school and outside of class as required. Teams are encouraged to get out of the classroom and discover potential customers, identify and test assumptions, pivot their ideas based on what they've learned, and ultimately prove and validate their business concept. During this time, mentors act as a guide, co-creator, and liaison between the students and the broader entrepreneurship community.
The GRAND FINALE! In the spring, YELL teams compete in YELL's Annual Venture Challenge, pitching their entrepreneurial idea to a panel of investors and entrepreneurs. Teams compete for prizes and cheer their classmates on to 1st place. Each year's Venture Challenge is unique, with YELL inviting community members, parents, entrepreneurs, judges, and more to come out, support, and be inspired!
